Milk can be contaminated with lead, which is in some cases higher than the permissible limits.
Lead can enter the animal's body and then the milk through the consumption of contaminated feed.
The proximity of dairy farms to industrial areas, mines, vehicle traffic lanes and places with high air pollution, as well as the use of inappropriate containers and equipment for transportation and processing milk can increase the concentration level of the lead in milk.
There is a protein in milk called casein, which tends to bind to lead, and this is also the case in cheese, which is made of milk casein.
Children are more vulnerable to lead poisoning than adults.
Lead can be stored in their bodies and cause cancer, autism and a decrease in IQ.
So be sure to use milk and dairy products that are from reputable brands and supervised by the Iranian Food and Drug Standards Organization, as their lead levels are checked according to the relevant permitted standards.
