You have probably seen that after eating some foods, your lips and mouth changes color, say orange after drinking orange soda. Do you think such edible colors come from the fruit extracts? Does it mean that the orange color of orange soda derives from natural oranges?
In the food industry, to increase the attractiveness and customer-friendliness of the food products, permissible food colors are added to them, most of such colors being synthetic rather than natural!
But be careful! It’s not that such colors are risk-free for your health just because they are called permissible, and you can use them as much as you want!
The European Food Safety Organization says that consuming too much of edible colors is harmful, especially for children, and can cause hyperactivity and allergic reactions such as hives. They can even increase the risk of autism and cancer.
You need to know that some profit-seeking fraudsters may add illegal dyes peculiar to dye carpets and clothes to foods that are sold in bulk, which is very dangerous.
