After making sure of the presence of the iodin in your daily salt consumption, follow these tips to prevent reduction of the iodine content of the salt.
Since iodine is sensitive to heat, light, and even exposure to air and could be readily destroyed by these factors, first of all refrain from storing the salt in transparent glass containers that allow light to pass through them.
You can pour the salt in plastic or colored glass or ceramic containers.
Secondly, make sure to keep the salt in a closed container to protect it from exposure to the air.
Thirdly, when adding salt to the food, it is better to add it toward the end of cooking, i.e. after boiling the food.
And finally, make sure to use the salt you bought within a year time period.
