What can we do to make garlic last longer?
Let me tell you a few tips that you may not have considered until now!
First, do not put garlic in the refrigerator at all, because the humidity there will cause your garlic to mold faster.
It is better to store garlic as a whole bush in a dry, cool and dark place. Put them in a mesh bag or basket that allows air to pass through and has good ventilation.
Be careful not to leave garlic next to potatoes and onions, because this will cause the garlic to go bad faster.
Never peel garlic before storing it to save time, because these layers protect the garlic and delay its spoilage. It’s better to peel the garlic whenever you want to use it.
If you want to keep the garlic for a longer period of time, freeze it! You can grate the garlic and put it in an ice cube tray, and after freezing, put the small cubes in a sealed container. You may then take them out of the freezer as needed each time and consume. This way, garlic will stay fresh for up to 12 months.
Some people peel the garlic and store it in oil! Be careful that this mixture must be stored in the refrigerator and consumed within 7 days. Because keeping it in such a state for long at room temperature would cause a type of bacteria to grow inside it, producing a toxin that can cause digestive problems and, in more severe cases, muscle weakness, paralysis, and even death!
